Serving the Community

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

The author James M. Barrie once said that “Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it for themselves.”  The Village Voice Committee places a high value on working to better our community through different community service acts.  In the last few years we have regularly collected donations for the food pantry at St. Blasé church and started a food basket program at Thanksgiving for local needy families.  Last spring we collected items for the Children’s Advocacy Center in Justice. We have spearheaded a local “Friends of Justice” movement to work together to clean up various areas in town.   We have also sent care packages to Illinois armed forces members serving overseas, and this winter we signed and sent over 200 holiday cards to be distributed by the Red Cross to service personnel.   In the upcoming year we hope to keep moving forward and working to serve our community. If you would like to become involved or have ideas for projects of community service please email us at comments@villagevoice.us  – We’d enjoy hearing from you!
